The bees are swarming

The other week i noticed outside our house, where we keep our car parked, there is an old abandoned building, with bees swarming. They we rather busy and zooming past on a right old mission.

I spoke to a few friend who has bees, to find out why they are here all of a sudden.
My good friend Gary gave me a few tips to make a little home for them, where they can make honey.

Since then, the bees have calmed and seem to be more relaxed, to and fro-ing from flower to abandoned house.

Soon i'll make a little box for them, but what  good news for me, as I've always wanted bees.
It was next on my list of things to do for the farm.

Alas money and time was not on my side when deciding to own some.
So,  now they have made camp in my immediate vicinity, would be a shame to ignore them, after all they might have heard my plea.

We'll see what becomes of it.

I too have been a busy little bee, extending my colour palette to watercolour portraits of the family. I'm looking forward to some oils coming in the post, and have started a huge painting, in acrylic, of a flying eagle.

After all these mountains, where i live,  are called the mountains of the goshawk eagle, i see them a lot flying above my home and garden.

As the warmth approaches for a brief time this week, it feels like spring and so do think the bugs.

The fruit trees think its spring, which is not always good, as the frost could soon come and kill off all the flowers which have germinated, leaving us with no cherries or fruit this year.

My youngest and i have been in the garden germinating lettuce seeds, and planting the big ones out. Potatoes are in the attic and are chitting, the tomatoes, peppers and aubergines are on the balcony in the sun.

The young goat mothers are almost about to pop with more spring babies, it all happens at once here, and we check on them regularly.

They have been let out in the fields in the sun so they can birth their babies in the natural way and in the warm sun.

I shall post up my current art portraits, let me know what you think, watch this space for more animals and nature paintings while i delve in to the magic of our fertile earth.
